Hayesdown First School is County First School maintained by Somerset County Council. It was established in 1973 during the reorganization of education in Frome and caters for 304 children (currently on roll) between the ages of 4 and 9. Hayesdown is set among pleasant grounds with a play area, several grassed and garden areas as well as a large playing field. We enjoy a positive relationship with parents - many of whom are involved in a number of aspects of the work of the school. There is an active Parent/Teacher Association which raises funds and assists in a large number of activities throughout the year. Recently they have been responsible for the acquisition of a quiet seating area in the playground and are continuing to provide funds for the development of the playground areas. The teaching staff are hard working and establish excellent relationships with the children. We are fortunate to have a dedicated team of support staff who enhance our provision.
